ONE-ON-ONE with Dr. Kaur

Q: Where were you born?
Although I was raised in Central NJ, I was born in Oslo, Norway!

Q: Do you love to travel?
Yes, I love to travel and have been to 30 countries and counting! Japan, Croatia, and Bali top the list as some of my favs! My husband and I were lucky enough to embark on a six-month trip around the world in 2019. I love learning about different cultures, fashions, and meeting new people!

Q: What do you do in your leisure time?
When I’m not in the office, I love spending time with my husband and baby boy. We love to try new restaurants, go on hikes, and enjoy the outdoors. Health and fitness are very important to me; you can catch me riding on the peloton a few times a week! Lastly, I have a huge interest in interior design and decorating; I take each room in my house as a new project and have so much fun doing it!

Q: Why and how did you decide you wanted to be an optometrist?
Optometry is my childhood dream! I can trace that my love and intrigue for optometry began at 8 years old when I formed a special regard for our family optometrist.  I respected his intelligence but more so admired his ability to make his patients feel like family. He was a doctor who spent time with his patients.  As I started shadowing him, I saw the look of gratitude in his patients’ eyes as they saw clear for the first time.  I realized this was what I wanted to be, a doctor who was passionate about my field and give my patients the family-like experience they are meant to receive.
